You Win Some...

Image
Well we all know the saying... "You Win Some, You Lose Some" well I had the honor of being nominated at work for "Fan of the Quarter" Basically this is a version of Employee of The Month. But MO never does anything traditional (In a good way). So we do the reception quarterly and the winners recieve great prices. My nomination came from the entire Catering and Conference Service Team, which is everyone I work directly with. It means a lot to know that they notice the work I put in everyday. I am not saying that I don't have my bad days but I try to stay positive each day and delight guests :) Unfortunatly I didn't win, but the person who did was a very well deserving canidate, he most certainly should have won! He is always postive and smiling making everyone's day better. So you win some you lose some, thats for sure, but when its not about winning you have a lot more fun along the way. AND the reception was very nice with wine and sushi, I love this ho...

Friends

Today is a break from the usual for me... Well its not like my schedule is always so normal- but I like days like this. I don't have to be at work until 2:30PM because I am doing a half day today and Sunday and then I have Saturday off. So although it isn't ideal it is better than nothing. So I spent the morning sleeping until 11:30 and then watching TV. After I finish this post I will take a shower and get ready and hopefully be out of work by 6:30PM- thats the goal :) I have been doing some reflecting the past 24 hours, on how important it is to have friendships. I have been having a hard time making real friends here. I mean I have my work friends which are great but they are really just in different stages than me. And then Z's law school friend, but its just been hard to make friends with my work schedule and such. So thats why its so important to hold on to the friends that I already have, even with the distance between us. Well thats all the insight I have right now....

Sorry for the delay between posts- BUT honestly I can sum up the past 10 days with this- WORK! Basically thats all I have been doing waking up early going to work, coming home dead tired and then going to sleep. But I did have a small break in that routine, thankfully. This weekend Z and I went to New Orleans. This is a trip we had planned for sometime. It was Chris' idea, as his mom lives in NOLA, and Kevin's Birthday was April 7th so it was also in honor of his 23rd year of life. Z and I had to make it a short trip as stated before, the whole working thing and school. So we left on Friday and returned this morning, but even the short time was well worth it. When we arrived at 6PM on Friday, we were greeted by everyone, Amanda, Ashley, Chris, Kevin and Chris' mom Melanie. Our first stop was Mealanie and Steve's house. Its an amazing house that was so well decorated and homey feeling. There were plenty of extra bedrooms and we had very comfortable sleeping arrangements....

Pomegranate Margaritas

Well as I was saying in the last post Carrie and I had a great time. I will say that by my own fault the fun fizzled out a little bit by Tuesday. I wish I didn't have to work while she was here but no such luck and I was a little bit boring Tues and Weds. But Zach and Carrie got to spend a lot of quality time together :) So she arrived late Friday night! Saturday we had a fun day at the Beach and suffice to say Carrie got a LOT of sun! as you can see (don't kill me Carrie) She got a good portion of that burn on the way to the beach in Z's convertible- let's just say it wasn't an original idea, going to the beach. We met Kyle and Christine at the Beach and while every played 2 hours of volleyball Carrie and I tanned and caught up :) For dinner we went to Burger and Beer Joint, one of Z and I's favorite finds. Although I was still a little full from the last time we went with La and El so I just had a salad. We made it home by about 9 and we were all ridiculously ...

Easter Day

Happy Easter! I hope that you all had an amazing Easter Day and got to spend time with people you love. I would be lying if I said that I wasn't a little sad this Easter. Usually I go to my Great Grandmother's House (She will be 98 in July). This was my first Easter ever to not be with my family eating good food hiding eggs and such. Thats the one of the hardest parts of being in Miami is missing the holidays. Although I was very happy today to get to spend time with Gaga and Oby. They invited us to brunch in Pompano Beach. It was great to be with some new family on Easter. As for our crazy life: K.C. and Bert were here from Thursday until Sunday, thats when they left for their 7 night cruise. They were a lot of fun to hang out with and we got to show them a lot of Miami. Including one HOT day at the beach where everyone left with a little more color. Carrie came on Friday night and we also had a great weekend. But there will be another post to follow- to describe our fun times...
