Nawlins'
Sorry for the delay between posts- BUT honestly I can sum up the past 10 days with this- WORK! Basically thats all I have been doing waking up early going to work, coming home dead tired and then going to sleep.
But I did have a small break in that routine, thankfully. This weekend Z and I went to New Orleans. This is a trip we had planned for sometime. It was Chris' idea, as his mom lives in NOLA, and Kevin's Birthday was April 7th so it was also in honor of his 23rd year of life. Z and I had to make it a short trip as stated before, the whole working thing and school.
So we left on Friday and returned this morning, but even the short time was well worth it. When we arrived at 6PM on Friday, we were greeted by everyone, Amanda, Ashley, Chris, Kevin and Chris' mom Melanie. Our first stop was Mealanie and Steve's house. Its an amazing house that was so well decorated and homey feeling. There were plenty of extra bedrooms and we had very comfortable sleeping arrangements. We ate the first night at Red Fish and then ventured for our first time down Bourbon Street. It was insane, as promised, lots of drinking and lots of interesting people.
We ofcourse visited the casino- Zach's favorite past time. Z did well the first night, he won 300. I didn't play the first night. Then around 2:30Am we went home and I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
Saturday we got to sleep in- comething I hadn't done for quite a while. Then we had some breakfast and headed to the French Quarter and the Market. It was so nice out and the market looked like one I had visited in Charleston. Z had a memory of being there when he was 10 and told me a story how he caught a bird the last time he was in NOLA. Then we had lunch at Hard Rock, by this point I was pretty tired again so we went back to the homestead and while the boys watched the Hawks Game I slept outside by the pool. Later that evening the neighbors had a Crawfish Boil. I love crawfish!
Then we had to run to our Haunted Ghost Tour. It was a 2 hour walking tour around the city. I love ghost stories but this tour was a little less than fun for some reason. It was still nice to get to walk around the city though, and see some of the quieter streets. Then we ate again :) and went back to the casino. This time I decided to play. I won!! $100. Unfortuatly Z was not as lucky and lost $100. But even still in the end we came home with more money than we left with!
All in all it was a short weekend, but a lot of fun. I had never been to NOLA before and I love to go to new places. It was nice to get away for a little bit, but I will say that I slept a lot on Sunday but I am still dragging a little bit today.
Thanks to Chris for the hospitality and being a tour guide for us around the city!
