Birthday and Mother's Day!

This weekend was filled with special days. Friday was my birthday and Sunday was Mother's Day. I must say that both of these days were a little bittersweet for me.

I looked forward to my birthday all week, but when Friday came around I was a little sad. I found myself wishing I were around family and friends. I worked all day, which inspired me to have a new no working on birthday rule! Then I came home- Z had a final from 6PM-9PM. So I got home and took a little nap then I skyped my Mom and Sister and opened the present they sent me. Then I decided to make cupcakes for myself :) then Z got home and gave me my gifts (listed below) and he took me to a late dinner at Houston's. It was a lovely night and we had a lot of fun. It turned out to be a great day after all.


Gift List:
My mom got me a Pandora bracelet. Its s pretty much a charm bracelet, right now it is adorned with one charm a cupcake. My dad bough me a new phone, the new droid. My great in-laws gave me gift cards to Macy's. And my lovely Zachary got me a beautiful Michael Kors Watch. :) I love it



Saturday I didn't do much. Laid around the house. BUT today I have been quite productive. I have been cleaning, doing dishes and laundry all day. I went to the pool for an hour. Z and I went to lunch then to the mall so I could get my watch resized (now fits and looks amazing). Then we got home I continued cleaning. I skyped my fam so my mom could open the present Z and I sent her.I made an "idea book" before bed I hope to get some scrap-booking done and watch Andy's sermon from today!

I love productive days.

Well the past few weeks have been crazy! I am really getting into my new role and I must say I feel as if it suites me. Now I am still  "rookie" in every sense of the word, but to be honest I am learning from a great master. Emily Dickens Moves to Miami

Well this is my first post and I have a lot to say! My name is Emily Dickens and I have a lot going on in my life. I just got married to the love of my life Zach Dickens on 8.7.09. We got married at the Atlanta History Center in Georgia. My wedding was everything I could hope for and more. I was surrounded by my closest friends and family. It truly was the best day of my life. After the wedding my husband and I went on a fabulous honeymoon in Key West. We spent a long weekend in Key West during their famous lobsterfest. The streets were full of people and tents with fresh lobster and the town was alive. It was a lot of fun. When the honeymoon was over we drove to our new home in Miami, FL. My husband will be attending the University of Miami Law School this year and that is what brought us down here. We live in a community called Brickell and it really is amazing. Well friends this month of February has so far been a great one for me and Zach. I will catch you up on the highlights. 1. Zach did really well last semester and received The Dean's Certificate. 2. Z also got an internship with a Federal Judge! So he is working with him 2 days a week. Zach on his First Day of Work 3. I got a Promotion!! I am very excited about this. I am now the Social Catering Manager for The Mandarin Oriental Miami. So I will now be booking weddings, showers, birthday parties and much more! Check out my Director's blog - she is an incredible Social Catering Director and it will be a pleasure to learn and work with her. 4. Zach and I had our Second "official" date night. We went to Il Gabbiano's a well known Italian establishment in Miami very close to our apartment. We absolutely loved it, the pasta, the bruchetta, the cheese, the wine! Everything was so delicious.
