Clear Headed
I am back to blogging. I took a five year hiatus and honestly I have missed the outlet. I enjoy this release, and the ability to share with people (even if it's only 2 of you - hi mom!)
I turned 30 this year and I am really focused on becoming and showing my authentic self. I love birthdays because I feel like its always a good time of renewal and to reset goals and visions. I am all about making myself better, and really discovering what is going to make me happy, and thats all about what habits and ideas are going to be sustainable. And this is a great platform to write about all those interesting things, that I am sure other people can relate to.
So in this journey for authenticity I really want to strive for a simplistic materialistic approach in my life (this is a pretty new idea for me), but I think it will allow more space for the things that really matter. In an effort to move in that direction I received a little inspiration (which as we know always presents itself in different ways). My dear friend Hannah posted the other day about her closet.. Check it out here
This isn't me calling her out, not at all in fact I love her honesty, truth and authenticity. . It is something I am striving for each and every day. But it did get me thinking about my closet (which may or may not be a metaphor for many other things..) It needed some work and some clearing out. I really decided in a moment that Hannah's post was a sign for me to start cleaning.
I researched a few methods, and I decided to take a few things from each method. Here are the steps I took- overall the whole process took me about 4 hours.
So here I am embarking on a journey to free myself clutter. And I truly think it will lead to more happiness and will help me clear some mental space for some amazing things.

- Take everything out of your closet- this step is really unavoidable, you have to see everything you have.
- Separate everything into 3 piles, yes // no // maybe
- Put the Yes Pile back into the closet
- Try the Maybe pile on, every - single - item
- The No pile- separate it into three piles
- Give away
- Sell
- Throw Away
- There are a few consignment websites for your nicer things. I like The Real Real for your top designer things and I am trying out ThreadUp for the other items. They donate the items the don't accept which for me is a major bonus!
- I do subscribe to Rent the Runway unlimited. If it is something that is within your budget its a great way to pare down your wardrobe to the essentials, but still get new items.
So here I am embarking on a journey to free myself clutter. And I truly think it will lead to more happiness and will help me clear some mental space for some amazing things.
