Don't Mind the Wet Suit!
Here are some of my dolphin pics from yesterday! The red head is my boss and the group photo is all of catering and sales colleagues.
Today was a typical day, busy we have 3 groups in house and 2 on the floor (meaning having simultaneous events). I was dragging this morning, getting up early a few days in the row really takes it out of you by the end of the day. So far I really like what I am doing, I am wearing a lot of hats which is pretty normal for me honestly. During high season which is coming up October and November, we can have as many as 5 groups on the floor. I will be anxious to see what that is like I know it will be a lot of work.
As in any organization you start to realize the culture the more you work there. I can start to see the little rifts and the communication break downs, it is very interesting how many different mentalities there are in a company. I mean I always want to go above and beyond, but not everyone is like that AT ALL. Not that I am surprised, but those are the little challenges that make my job harder.
Tomorrow we have the one big group leaving, it will be satisfying to see them through the entire program and know I did all I could to help out. I mean literally; I blew up balloon and wrote her thank you cards. Anything you could think of. Today was also full of meeting which is good and bad although it does pass the day a little faster!
I also got to see our presidential suite, OMG it is amazing it has a spa in it! I mean really I wanted to live there it is a lot bigger than our apartment.
As far as exciting news... I got my first paycheck today, my first real life grown-up paycheck. It felt good! I was clearly excited
Things I learned today
1. Be Nice but also be persistent, the next time you need something done it will be done quickly and the first time you ask!
2. Always check up! Always it's sad but when it comes to your job don't trust others to do it
3. In Miami in September it literally rains everyday. Today is the 10th day in a row it has rained. No Joke!
4. Workout- Cafeteria food and home cooked meals will put the pounds on you!
Ok so with that said I am going to work out!
