A Treasure Hunt
Today was my last day of formal orientation. It was actually a lot of fun, it brought me back to my Camp War Eagle days. We had skits and contests like who could build the tallest tower as well as jeopardy! A word about jeopardy is that it got intense to the point where I think we were all so competitive it wasn't fun any more. With all that said my team won and as a prize I got Mandarin Oriental Dominos, which is perfect because Zach and I love games.
So I have been a little moody I think it is mostly because I am not used to getting up early and working all day. I know I will adjust but I don't like feeling like I am always on edge. Of course I have the best husband who yesterday when I got home had cleaned the entire apartment. It is so nice that we are both trying so hard to have a harmonious home and it makes being here so much like a nice retreat as oppose to my previous apartment which was much more stressful (I am not blaming I am not the cleanest person).
So after orientation today I stopped by Catering and Conference Services (CCS) just to say hello as tomorrow is my first "real" day. Kelly who is one of my bosses is extremely awesome actually the entire CCS team is amazing and I am so excited. My whole next week is literally planned out to the minute which is fabulous for someone like me who loves structure. Basically my position is called Manager in Training. Kelly explained it as me being the Catering Concierge, which means I will be the liaison between the clients who are having events to all the other departments in order to make their event the best. As well as shadowing managers in numerous meetings, I am trying to learn all parts of the CCS divisions so that I will be equipped to lead a team of my own one day! I am so excited and I know that it will be a lot of work but I am excited to get started.
When I got home Zach and I walked to Publix to get a few things and then we made homemade lemonade and Cajun Chicken Pasta!
It was delicious I would and will make it again. As I was making dinner, I opened the bottom drawer and something fell behind it, when I went to get it I found this homemade book of recipes. It was like a secret treasure meant for me to find. The only problem is that it is completely handwritten in spanish! I will have to start dissecting it, but it was a fun surprise.
Tonight I am going to bed early and I don't have to be at work until 9 am (YAY) and I actually have this weekend off and next weekend off! How exciting is that you can find me at the pool :) And next weekend Zach and I are going home for Lauren and Elliot's wedding which is exciting and my sweet mother said she would take me shopping for work clothes, man I am so grown-up haha!
I will let you know how my first real days go, I think I am working for an amazing company with a WONDERFUL department who I know I will have a lot of fun with!
I want that chicken recipe too!! AND we also watch Rachel Zoe...I didn't think she handled the Paris Trip decision well at all though!! (Elliott is very into Bravo these days...haha its kinda funny)
ReplyDeleteAnd we do the same thing...we have a VERY clean, stress-free living environment!!
