Cake Things

Happy Fourth of July! Zach and I have had a wonderful long weekend.

We spent the weekend redecorating the apartment. I am so happy with the way it turned out, I will do my next post about the apartment 's face lift.

I wanted to share a two cakes I have done this week. One was a replica of my friend's wedding cake, I did the top tier for their 3 year anniversary. The other was my fourth of July cake, it also had a very special surprise on the inside. I am happy to share how its done for those who may be interested!

Hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Fourth. Enjoy the cakes and I will be back later this week with my apartment post.

Leonor and Memo's Anniversary Cake

My Fourth of July Cake
The Surprise inside my Fourth Cake!!
The American Flag

Its really not too hard to make the American Flag design on the inside, if you are interested below I have a picture tutorial.

Divide your batter into 3 bowls, this is a 3 layer cake so make sure you have
enough for  whatever size pan you are using.
Dye one batter blue, one red and the other stays white.

I used a 6" pan because it was just for me and Zach

Now you have all 3 cakes. Cut the white cake horizontally in half
Set one layer aside

Cut the Red Cake horizontally in half
set one layer aside

Level the top of the blue cake, but DO NOT cut in half

One White layer on the bottom with the red cake on top
Of course put icing in between each layer

Take the 2nd layer of the red, white and blue and stack them
Use either a circle cookie cutter or a bowl and cut a circle in the middle of all 3 of the cakes
Then discard the outer ring of the white and red and the inner ring of the blue

To assemble the cake put the blue layer on top of your already assembled white and red.
Then put a thin layer of icing in the ring of the blue and put the white circle
followed by the red circle.
Ice the entire outside of the cake and your done!

Happy Independence Day!

Loves.
