Revamp and Redecorate
Z and I have been busy revamping our chic 800 sq ft apartment. We started as you know with a bed change (from queen to King) *side note: Best decision ever! Then I bought new pillow covers for the couch, new side tables and dresser for the bedroom, re decorated the closet; complete with new storage, and a new "green" themed place setting, and yes that is my home grown basil as the center piece.
It has been about 3 weeks in the making but we are finally done. The apartment looks great! And I love when we redecorate, although the budget doesn't allow for that very often. Although this revamp did come with a bit of drama, specifically surrounding the bed. SOO here's the dealio, living in a one bedroom apartment in Miami has some amazing upsides, but also some downsides. The biggest one is little to no storage. So this was the drama, we store a lot of our things under the bed in the water heater closet and outside on the deck. So this is all fine and dandy until we get our new bed. it is very stylish but has side panels which don't allow anything to be slid under the bed... So we thought we will get bed risers, umm this proved to be more challenging than not. The bed "feet" are an awkward shape and no bed risers fit, so then we decide to make these bed risers (a couple of 4x4's how hard could it be) VERY!! This was 2 trips to home depot then a 3rd to return everything.
So then Z finds these as seen on TV bed risers (you know us!) and we buy them, like the suckers we are. Well they definately fit, but now the bed is literally 7 inches off the ground and I feel like I am sleeping in the ceiling not to mention it was a little un-sturdy! So this was also a failure. So after another trip to Target we found some boxes that will fit under the bed, the only catch is that we have to lift off the mattress to get to them, but it works!
So with the storage figured out we now have a clean apartment that is ready for action! Take a look at some pics and let me know what you think.
side note** Kudos to my wonderful husband who has been working tirelessly to get the apartment back to an acceptable state, without him I wouldn't have had the motivation to start this project in the first place.
Happy Labor Day Weekend!!
Loves.
