Spring Break to St. Patty's

Well this past week has been an eventful one! The first wave of visitors has come and gone.

On Tuesday Olivia (my sister) and her 2 friends Katie and Courtney joined me and Zach in Miami for their SB2k10. I will say I have never seen that many clothes in my apartment at one time- which was nice to have so many clothing choices. I think they enjoyed their stay, it was eventful to say the least. I will share some fun pictures soon, O has them all on her camera.

On Thursday Reade joined us from Auburn for part of his SB. He had a couple of days with the girls as well. And one night where all 4 of them slept in the living room- which by the way isn't much room. Then on Saturday my mom joined us- she stayed at the Conrad hotel with the girls and then moved to the Mandarin on Sunday. So that allowed Reade to have a normal amount of sleeping space and my Mom and Sister got to experience the Mandarin. It is always good when your parents get to see what you do each day.

On Sunday we had an eventful day- We first had brunch at Green Street-They literally had the best Bloody Mary I have ever had. Then we took a boat tour of the rich and famous, around Star Island and the other private islands. And to end the night we went to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D. I thought it was an amazing movie I would give it an A. Not everyone felt that way. Visually it was the best movie I ever saw. And I love TIm Burton and the story line! So I would highly recommend it.

Monday the girls left EARLY in the morning and I drove my Mom to Naples,FL. I had wanted to check it out and it was only 2 hours from Miami. I really liked it a lot its a super cute little town with a beautiful Beach. I want to go back and spend a weekend there.

Last night was St. Patty's day and it may be a little known fact but I am actually A LOT Irish. My Mother's Maiden Name is Mooney (don't use that to steal any of my info) But Mooney is a very Irish name. But ironically I have never been too into celebrating. But this year I celebrated 2 ways:

At work we had a potato carving contest: HR provides the potatoes and each department can enter. So CCS (my department) entered. I must admit I did all the work, but I was happy to do it for the team. We created a little science fair project of how to make potato vodka. Then I carved the potato into a vodka bottle you can see the picture below. And I won!!! $100 My hard work paid off- Literally!!

Also in Miami, where very few people are Irish, everywhere is a huge party. Right next to our apartment is an Irish Pub and they closed down the road in front of the Pub and set up tents and kegs for a street party. There was a live band and all. So Zach and I went there for a little bit to partake in the festivities and then I we got dinner and I had a very St. Patty's day meal Turkey Ruben and Potato Soup. Yum!

I also got a big surprise yesterday when our Wedding Book came in the mail!! I love surprises like that :)

And that brings us to today. Describing that for you here reminds how long of a week it was, but we did a lot of fun things!! And TOMORROW, Zach and I go to Washington D.C. to meet my parents. I LOVE D.C. and Z has never been so I am excited to get to see the sites with him :)

We fly in tomorrow morning and fly back to MIA on Sunday so there will be lots of pictures when I write my return blog.

Other Notes:

1. I finished Committed by Elizabeth Gilbert; I found it interesting but I will reiterate my earlier point about the book don't read unless you are 40 , you have a VERY strong foundation in your marriage or if you don't believe in marriage.

2. I just started Dan Brown The Lost Symbol- Cliche I know but I wanted to try to read as much as I could before D.C. as of now I haven't gotten too far but there is always tonight and the plane.

Loves.

Comments

  1. I really liked the Lost Symbol. It will be good to read while you're in DC too since it has so many cool Dan Brownish facts about the city.
